University of Muhammadiyah Jember (UM Jember) is the part of the Muhammadiyah Higher Education Foundation (PTM) founded in September 1, 1981 based on the Establishment Charter Number: 047/III-JTM.81/81 and approved by the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Number 0172/Q/1982 in May 10, 1982. UM Jember has mission to achieve the noble ideals of the nation to educate Indonesian people. UM Jember intended to create, implement, and develop science and technology to build modern civilization in accordance with Islamic religious teachings. In order to achieve the noble goals of the development of Indonesian people and the realization of a truly Islamic religion society with prosperous physical and spiritual prosperity, blessed by God, Allah Subhanahu Wata Alla, UM Jember educates students to become Muslim scholars and nation leaders who are pious, noble, and have excellence in Islam religion, leadership, professional expertise, and independence.
In order to achieve these noble missions and goals, the entire academic community of UM Jember cooperates with the Bondowoso Regency government in carrying out the duties and functions of the Catur Dharma College. Various achievements at regional and national levels have been achieved, thus placing UM Jember as an excellent private university (PTS) in Kopertis Region VII, East Java and Indonesia. Achievements at the regional level can be seen from the third highest number of community service grants, and the seventh highest number of research grants in 2015 from the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education for Kopertis Region VII East Java. Achievements at the national level can be seen from the ranking of 92 in cluster 3 of the best universities in Indonesia in 2016 and the determination of the main ranking for the research performance of LPPM UM Jember in 2016 from the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education. Meanwhile, the direction of the development of UM Jember is focused on becoming a Research University through the Teaching University stages in 2012 to 2018, Pre-Reseach University in 2018 to 2024, and Research University in 2024 to 2030.
Bondowoso Regency is located at an altitude between 78-2,300 meters above sea level, 3.27% is at an altitude below 100 m asl, 49.11% is at an altitude between 100-500 m above sea level, 17.75% is at an altitude of 500-1,000 m asl, and 27.87% are at an altitude above 1,000 m asl. The expanse is surrounded by the North Kendeng mountain range with the peaks of Mount Raung, Mount Ijen and Mount Widodaren in the east, the Hyang Mountains with the peaks of Mount Argopuro, Mount Kilap and Mount Krincing in the west, while in the north there are Mount Alas Sereh, Mount Biser and Mount Bendusa.
Bondowoso Regency is one of the districts in East Java Province which is very rich in exciting tourist attractions. Tourist attractions in Bondowoso are dominated by mountain natural attractions and waterfall attractions. Unlike the majority of other districts in the Horseshoe Region, East Java, Bondowoso has no coastline at all. But the attractions of Bondowoso Regency are not inferior to the surrounding cities. Some of the famous tourist attractions include: Ijen Bondowos Crater; Wurung Crater; Weed Crater; Mount Roar; Hyang Bondowoso Mountain Tour; Villa Afdelling Jampit Flower Garden; Peak P28 Bondowoso; Bondowoso Mahadewa Hill; Twin tancak waterfalls; Agung Island Waterfall; Belawan Waterfall; Sulfur waterfall; Bosamba Rafting Bondowoso; Megalithic Sites; Arabica Coffee Plantation.
The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy / Tourism Board set a strategy during the Java-Bali Covid-19 Emergency PPKM. Policies and efforts to maintain mobility activities during the pandemic from limiting the number of tourists to the implementation of travel administration. Thus, tourists who will travel should have requirements such as vaccine certificates, e-HAC applications, care and protection applications commanded by the Ministry of Information Communications, BNPB, Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises, BNPB and in terms of cyber security protection. Then there is the CHSE Program in the Tourism and Creative Economy Sector which began in March 2021, which aims to encourage the safety of all parties.
Phase 2 of the ICRD is a continuation of the previous activity which raised the impact of COVID-19 on the village economy. In 2022 raised the issue of Tourisme Rural. Where there are more and more creative industries in the villages in Bondowoso Regency, so that it also introduces the potentials of Bondowoso Regency.

Ijen Geopark
Ijen Geopark is located on the border between Banyuwangi and Bondowoso Regencies, East Java, Indonesia. The name ‘Ijen’ is taken from ‘Mount Ijen’ and represents the geological history of the entire Geopark. There are now 21 geological sites being developed, ranging from local to international scales. One of the many geological sites that has an extraordinary phenomenon is Ijen Crater, the most acidic crater lake on earth which is well known for its blue fire in the area of Solfatara
Mini Niagara Falls Bondowoso
Mini Niagara Falls Bondowoso is about six meters high and has a wide shape. This waterfall is surrounded by exotic scenery and green hills. It is located next to an Arabica coffee processing factory managed by PTP Nusantara XII that is located in Kalianyar Village, Sempol District, Bondowoso Regency. Mini Niagara Falls Bondowoso is downstream from Kalipahit, i.e., sulfur-rich groundwater seepage flowing from Ijen Crater surrounded by Macadamia
Kawah Wurung
Wurung Crater is a hilly area that is covered by a savanna with a cone-like crater. This area is also surrounded by giant holes like the caldera. Wurung Crater means an unfinished crater. Although craters are generally filled with acid or sulfur, the area of Wurung Crater is—as far as our eyes can see covered with green grassland and a few trees.
